On Friday September 28th, 2007, the Albanian Student Association held the first party of the semester at Empire Café in Hartford, Connecticut.
This party was held as a fundraiser in which we use the profits towards scholarships for incoming Albanian freshman at the University of Connecticut. The party also serves as a way for our generation to learn Albanian customs with traditional music and dance. Overall, the party was a great success and everyone enjoyed dancing to traditional Albanian Valle and listening to Albanian music. This is a good way for our generation to learn Albanian customs and values which can be passed on to the next generation of Albanians. This also allows for such customs to be instilled in us so that we may always remember what it means to be an Albanian. We were also selling ASA shirts for a small fee which included the lettering “Albanian Student Association University of Connecticut” with the Albanian eagle in the center. The proceedings from these shirts will go towards our scholarship program and will benefit incoming Albanian students who wish to pursue an education at the University of Connecticut. For anyone that missed the party, have no fear, as there will be more parties to come! Thank you to everyone who helped out!!
